Someone is definitely behind these attacks and perhaps even Lucien’s gaining his abilities. He’d better hope he can solve that mystery before his life is completely ruined.

Convention tour 2011: 9th annual comics showroon Veles 2011 October 14- 16th

As I write this entry, and yes, I know it's been a while (The Ray miniseries is really taking up a lot of my time right now) I'm prepping for my trip to the Balkans. This is the type of thing, that had you told me as a kid that someday I would be going to Macedonia ... I would have called you a liar. Yet here I am about to embark on another adventure.

If all goes well I'll be able to keep you guys up to date on my whereabouts while I'm there.

However, this does mean I won't be attending New York Comic Con this year. It'll be a little weird. I think this is the first one I've not attended since they began at the Javitts Center. I don't really have anything to promote either, So it won't be a huge blow. I'll miss meeting the New york area fans and fans who come in for the show. However, I look forward to meeting the Balkan comics community.

Get ready for a brand new Ray! Lucien Gates’s life is changed forever when he is struck by a mysterious beam of energy that turns him into a glowing gladiator – and being a human ray of light comes in handy when his city is suddenly under attack from giant, building-sized monsters. Unfortunately, light powers are less than handy in keeping his girlfriend happy.

On a Baltimore Comic-Con panel last month, arriving as a fast-patter herald of DC’s “New 52” relaunch, Jimmy Palmiotti was pumped. Now, we’ve begun to understand why.

The prolific team of Palmiotti and Justin Gray has been mixing it up in the dusty West for quite a spell now, notably hitting its targets with the popular Jonah Hex. And in the new Universe, with Palmiotti and Gray (“Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters”) steering the horses, Hex gets to ride again with the Gotham City-set All-Star Western. (This, four decades after Hex debuted in that title.)

Now, DC Comics tells Comic Riffs that Palmiotti and Gray will take the reins for “The Ray” — a four-issue miniseries due out in December that’s devoted to the classic “human ray of light” freedom fighter.

Palmiotti and Gray have worked on the Ray as Stan Silver. Now, the latest identity of the Ray is: Lucien Gates. (“Much to the chagrin of [Lucien’s] girlfriend,” DC says.)

More Info	Supertar Comic Book Artists Jamal Igle & Brad Walker. Jamal Igle is an American comic book artist, editor, art director and animation storyboard artist. Igle has worked in books ranging from The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, the all-ages action miniseries Race Against Time as well as fill-in issues in mainstream titles such as Green Lantern, G.I. Joe, Martian Manhunter and Supergirl. Igle was also honored at the 40th Anniversary edition of Comic Con international: San Diego with the Inkpot Award for Achievement in Comic Art. Brad Walker is best known for his recent artwork on Marvel's cosmic titles The Thanos Imperitive and Guardians of the Galaxy with writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. The team of Abnett, Lanning & Walker have done it again, this time to tackle Marvel's street level heroes in Heroes for Hire. The series has focused on characters such as Elektra, The Punisher, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Iron Fist and more! Jamal, and Brad were both contributing artist to the DC Comics event Tangent: Superman's Reign in 2008. We hope to see all of you then.

San Diego Con 2011 wrap up

First I want to say a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Fae Desmond,David Glanzer, Janet Goggins, Gary Sassaman, Wendy Wu, the board of directors and everyone connected to Comic Con International for hosting myself and my family this past week. You all treated me well and frankly I'm a bit spoiled now. LOL

Secondly, Thank you to all of the fans who came by my table in Artist Alley and to my spotlight panel: While ar my panel I was stunned and left practically speechless when I was presented with an Inkpot Award. I'm truly humbled by this honor, so again, Thank you.
