Announcements!

Greetings D.A.R.T. technicians:

             We have a few announcements today which are , very exciting.

First, Fulfillment: D.A.R.T Membership cards and Molly Danger t-shirts are now at the printers and should be delivered to all backers by the end of October, four months earlier than I was originally thinking it would be. The unfortunate demise of my involvement with the Historians has become a win-win for us all.

I would also like to announce the addition of my new Editor, Adam P.Knave,

 to the Molly Danger family.

Adam is an Eisner and Harvey Award winning writer and editor who has written fiction (CRAZY LITTLE THINGS, STRANGE ANGEL, and STAYS CRUNCHY IN MILK), comics (AMELIA COLE, THINGS WRONG WITH ME, stories in TITMOUSE MOOK vol 2, FIRESIDE MAGAZINE issue 1, and many more), and columns for sites such as thefoonote, TwoHeadedCat, Comics101, PopCultureShock, and MamaPop. He was also one of the editors of Image’s POPGUN anthology.

I’m really excited about having someone with Adam’s pedigree and skill set assisting me in bringing Molly to life. I think it only strengthens us and will hopefully make Molly Danger the best graphic album series possible.

And Finally, I’ll be appearing at New York Comic Con from October 11^th-14^th at Artist Alley table C-1. A full signing schedule will be coming in the next few weeks.

Changes afoot!

Greetings D.A.R.T. technicians:

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve spoken to you as a group. Since the end of our successful Kickstarter campaign and I’ve been hard at work the entire time. Production on some of the offered incentives is underway and should be delivered soon.

As some of you know, I recently announced a project that I was preparing to do for IDW publishing. Unfortunately, circumstances have recently changed and Ron Marz and myself have exited the project. I still have a great relationship with Ron and the staff at IDW, and look forward to a healthy future with all parties involved.

So you may ask, what does this have to do with the price of coffee?

Well you may not be asking that, but you know that thought pops into your head once in a while.

What this means, is that instead of waiting to  until the Spring to begin working on Molly Danger book one, I’ll start drawing the book in October of this year and will be looking to have the Kickstarter exclusive version of the book in your hands by July of 2013, instead of the originally projected October release.

Back in 1994, Jamal penciled eight pages in Green Lantern #52 from a script by series writer Ron Marz. It was Jamal's first published work, and while the two remained friends ever since, they haven't worked together in the ensuing years. That's all about to change, as the two creators meet for a spotlight panel discussing the past, present, and future. Specials guests and the announcement of an exciting new project make this a panel you won't want to miss.

I'll be signing and doing as many sketches as I can fit in Sketch prices are

We Did It!

Greetings D.A,R.T. technicians:

First, I’d like to say Thank you, but saying thank you seems insignificant. With your pledges, we have the funding to complete everything involved with this campaign plus money left over to properly advertise the books release next fall.

Because of your help, your posts on Facebook, and tumblr, your tweets ,  this dream of mine is now one step closer to reality.

When I started this, I had no idea if it would work. The amount of time and energy that goes into running a Kickstarter campaign is immense. I didn’t realize how much effort it takes to promote a Kickstarter of this type. There were days when things didn’t seem to be progressing at all. I’m not one to sink into despair but it tested my resolve. Yet, it was you, all of you, who helped me through those rough patches.

It was those times that your messages of encouragement really helped me and the love and faith you’ve given me, and Molly Danger will be rewarded.

There are a lot of people to thank. Greetings D.A,R.T. technicians:

What an incredible ride this has been hasn’t it? In 27 days we have been blessed with over $40,000 is pledges from across the world. I’ve had the opportunity to talk to fans, mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles who believe as we do, that there’s a need for more all ages comics content. I’ve been humbled by the power of friendship as old friends, new friends, my peers in the comics industry and pledges from unexpected sources have supported this endeavor. I don’t think I can properly express how much it means to me to have my friends come together, both old and new. 
There’s still as of this writing 67 hours left in our campaign and as of this writing, we still need to raise $4,600 dollars before 8:18 Am Friday, August 31st.
We’re still offering a number of great incentives at every level including:

What's Tribblin,

A long time coming

So, while digging through the old files yesterday looking for art for an interview I found this:

This was the very first drawing I did of Molly, way back in 2001. As you can see, she hasn't changed much.

The thing is, sometimes you don't know what you have right under your nose. I've spent my entire career wanting to be a comic book artist for a major company. I know, that's the dream of a lot of artists, but for me it was the end all, be all for a very long time. Until a few years ago, the idea of generating my own properties scared me. Not anymore. I'm embracing my ideas for once and pushing forward. Molly Danger is a story that whether or not this campaign is successful (Although I hope it is) That will come to the bookshelves and digital. That's a promise.

When I say I believe in Molly Danger, It's not hyperbole. It's a fact.

JAMAL IGLE'S MOLLY DANGER KICKSTARTER IN THE FINAL STRETCH

Inkpot award winning creator Jamal Igle (Supergirl, Firestorm, KISS from IDW) recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.com. The Campaign has reached thousands of comic fans and has been covered on Digitalspy.com, Comicsbeat.Com, Comicsreporter.com and  Newsarama.com . Now the campaign enters it’s final week, with 63% of it’s funding already pledged.

Molly Danger is the story of the world’s most powerful 10-year-old girl. A seemingly immortal super strong hero, Molly has protected the city of Coopersville for the last 20 years.

Kept in constant isolation and watched closely by D.A.R.T. (The Danger Action Response Team) an organization created to assist in her heroic deeds and monitor her movements, Molly battles the Supermechs. A team of cybernetically enhanced beings with unusual powers, Molly always defeats them and yet they always managed to mysteriously escape. Molly longs for a real life, with a real family, something she’s been told she can never have. Her life changes when D.A.R.T. recruits a new pilot, Austin Briggs. Briggs has his own motivations for joining the team, newly remarried; Austin is having trouble forming a relationship with his new stepson, Brian. Austin wants to use his connections to impress Brian, an avid Molly Danger fan. However things get turned on its ear when Molly and Brian form a friendship of their own.

“As the father of a young girl, I’ve found myself disheartened that there isn’t a female superhero character for my daughter to read that hasn’t been turned into a killer, or overtly sexualized. A character that isn’t joined at the hip to a male hero or subservient to one.” Igle said.  Igle will write and pencil the series with inker Juan Castro (G.I.Joe: Snake Eyes for IDW, Incorruptible for Boom Studios, Elders of the Rune Stone) and Colorist Michael Watkins (Sonic the Hedgehog, Transformers).

Molly Danger will be a four book,48 page hardcover album series beginning with Book One: Mighty, set for a Fall 2013 release."It's a format that I love and feel gives us the best possible canvas to tell this story" 

Igle has also teamed up with Action Lab Entertainment, publishers of the Will Eisner award nominated series Princeless, to handle the publishing and distribution of the series.

The 30 day campaign began on August 1^st, 2012, incentives include a limited edition version of Book one for $22USD including shipping or a DRM free PDF for $8USD, posters, prints, a behind the scenes sketchbook and original artwork from the finished book.

The Campaign ends on August 31^st 2012 and will only be funded if it reaches it’s $45,000 Goal.

Yesterday was a really good day and as we get closer to the halfway mark of our campaign I'd like to share some of the great interviews and press we've gotten.

It's been a wild ride, my friends. With 17 days left in our campaign we are over $15,000 dollars in pldeges and going strong. I've tried to limit the amount of emails because I don't want to annoy everyone to death.
