Someone said that "looks don't matter" and they're right. The entire reason I did this was because my body was slowly failing me. back issues, high blood pressure, pre-diabetic conditions, swollen extremities, constantly out of breath doing the simplest of tasks. It all took it's toll. I won't lie and say esthetics didn't have a hand in my deciding to make a change, but it wasn't the major thing.
I've been working in comics my entire adult life. That included over a decade of 16 hour days sitting at a desk and horrible eating habits based more on convienence than what was good for me. i've also lost good friends and family members to diabetes, heart conditions and bad choices and i'm determined to not be one of those casualties.
I posted the July 2013 picture because it was one of the full body comparisons I had but my journey didn't start until almost 1 year ago next week. It took me 360 days to lose 100.5 lbs. I wake up at 5 am every morning, I run 4.5-5 miles, five to six days week. That's something I'm proud of, something I couldn't do six months ago. I consider myself a runner. I'm trying to become a better , faster, stronger runner.
And all of this wouldn't have happened if I didn't have the examples of my wife Karine, who has lost and kept off over 70 lbs herself, My sister Liz, who lost weight and is now a Zumba instructor and various other people around me who showed me it could be done.
People should be happy in the skin they're in, and i wasn't. Now i am, and because of it the people around me are happier(or so they tell me). You don't have to be thin to be healthy, but the key is to be healthy and happy, no matter what.
